First and foremost we love trout fishing; but our speakers do not stop there. Here are just a few of the topics our speakers typically cover.
Meetings are generally held the third Thursday of the month, September through June at the Greater Plymouth Community Center from 6:30 - 8:30 PM.
IMPORTANT NOTE: The December meeting starts earlier PM for our holiday party and fly fishing gear auction. The January meeting is the fourth Thursday of the month. Follow our newsletter for forthcoming details.
Every month before our guest speaker begins, we have one or two club members demonstrating some of their favorite flys. The club member will go over the fly tying materials needed, preferred hook size and type, tying techniques, where they use the fly and how to present it in the water column. You will learn everything you need to tie the flys and catch your query.
All forms of flys are demonstrated from drys to wets to nymph to emergers and more. If you would like a specific fly demonstrated, please ask the presiding vice president and we will try to arrange it.
Every month from September through June, we host leading authors, fly fishing celebrities, casting experts, and renowned guides. It is like having a private mini fly fishing convention every month.
We bring our members the best fly fishing knowledge available.
Topics include fly fishing for trout, salmon, bass, saltwater species, fly tying, casting, tactics, entomology, and equipment.
Every month, with the generous assistance of local fly shops, we hold a raffle for some great prizes. You could win a new Orvis, Cortland, and other name brand rods. The Real Thing!
Lots of other prizes like Hardy reels, genetic necks and saddles, tippet, fly lines, etc.
All proceeds go to support the clubs operation.
“Working late and can't make it to the meeting?
Watch the presentation again to go over the details.
Not feeling well?
The Speaker's son gets COVID and he needs to quarantine. The speaker presented from home and the show goes on!
Bad snow storm? The speaker can present from anywhere and we are all safer not driving.
Really need a drink after a hard day and just want to relax at home.
Every December we celebrate the holidays with a banquet provided by the club. We also run a fly fishing gear auction for club members. Everything you can imagine show up at our auction from rods to reels, saddles and even a bear skin rug (not sure how that is good for fly fishing).
Members planning to trade up often bring used gear to convert to cash. Redundant and no longer used gear is a close second. A small portion of the proceeds goes to supporting the club.
